COLOR STRUCK: The Stay In The Light Experience

KULTURE FEAST PRESENTS IN CONJUNCTION OF NEWARK ARTS FESTIVAL (FORMERLY KNOWN AS OPEN DOORS)

COLOR STRUCK: THE STAY IN THE LIGHT EXPERIENCE

COLOR STRUCK is a weekend exhibit exemplifying and calling forth attention to and for Black people in America, to focus the lens on beauty within their community, world and life. "There is nothing beautiful about where I live"- A 16 year old high school student from Brooklyn insisted in a conversation with an administrator.

Its no conundrum nor surprise that there are conflicting issues plaguing predominantly Black neighborhoods around America. The aftermath of systematic disenfranchisement inflicted on many who inhabit the chocolate cities of this country, is one story that has been on repeat and fine tuned. So much so, that those with no context within said community can speak so eloquently of these matters. The eloquence propels the speaker to even adapt the affinity and beauty within the Black American story in ways that those of the community lost the ability to fathom. How, and where has the lost of vision within the eye of the beholders become so clouded that the light that is the very being of this community has been dulled and almost ripped from possibility to some of its youth? COLOR STRUCK is a collection of art works from varied genre's and mediums of artist whom in one way or another shine the light and transform what has been deemed having lost its beauty. With specifically featured artist most namely POOR KINGZ, a team of graffiti artist whom many reside and have been raised in the SOUTHWARD of Newark.

COLOR STRUCK presented by Kulture Feast is proud to be the first South Ward listed event in conjunction with The Newark Arts Fesitval! Spreading and igniting the light in this area of Newark is an honor and pleasure!
